Despite the best efforts of its content creators, it is difficult to download content from Instagram directly to your mobile device. While it is possible to get videos off the service on your iOS or Android device, you’ll likely end up with a few unusable files. Fortunately, there are a few solutions for the uninitiated.

One of the better solutions is a free, downloadable app called the VidInsta. This Instagram video downloader isn’t quite as robust as its web-based counterpart, but it does a solid job of extracting your favorite photos and videos from the popular social network. It has no subscription costs, and works on both iOS and Android. It’s the only app of its kind to come to my attention, but if it is as good as advertised, I’m sure I’ll be using it to the letter.

The app isn’t just for capturing photos and Instagram video though. It also has a handful of other features including the aptly named Instagram Direct Messaging, which lets you send private images and videos to your contacts, as well as send out a few sneaky peeks to your followers. Other notable features include the ability to view and download images in high resolution, as well as coupons and vouchers for various apps and services. The app also has a clever way of allowing you to save pictures in its gallery. The app also boasts an impressive library of over one million Instagram accounts, which you can browse, search, and sort in the guise of your choice. This might be the coolest Instagram app you’ll ever use, and I’m not just saying that because I’m one of its users. Fortunately, the app has a free 14-day trial, which is enough time to test the waters before you commit. I’m sure you’ll be back to using it in no time. It also lets you use a teleportation function, which enables you to teleport from your desktop to your mobile device.
