Dave Kindig is a producer and actor from the USA. He is the co-founder of Kindig Brothers, a family owned and operated auto restoration business in Indiana. Dave Kindig is a well-known car enthusiast and builder who has been involved in the car business for over 30 years. In his career, he has built thousands of cars from cars that are still on the road today to some that have been converted into one-of-a-kind hot rods. The Kindig brothers have been in the auto restoration business for about 40 years, and according to their website, they started out as a local garage in Indiana with only two employees (Dave & his brother). In 2010, they were awarded “Best of Class” by the American Iron Magazine for their restorations and customizing skills.
How much does a Kindig car cost to build?
The Kindig Brothers currently build cars ranging from $7000 to $7500, which includes all labor costs associated with building new cars. According to their website, “All our work is done by hand.” They also offer a service where they will restore your car to original condition for $3,000.
In the 1970’s Dave Kindig was involved in the racing scene, and he built some very fast and competitive cars. He raced his cars in many events including the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500, and the 24 Hours of Daytona. One of his most famous race cars is called “The King of Speed”, which was a 1971 Plymouth Superbird modified with a 426 Hemi engine. This car was featured in the movie “Grand Prix” in 1977 and won several races during that year including the 24 Hours of Daytona. The car is considered to be one of Kindig’s most famous creations.
A Kindig car does not cost much to build. You can also purchase an inexpensive Heidenau K60 tire from eBay for about $25 to use with the rims you already have. Need a good wrench set for building this car. You will also need metal-cutting tools such as a Dremel tool or metal file and possibly a metal saw that can cut aluminum and steel.
You may also need to acquire some tools such as:
- A drill/driver set
- An angle grinder (optional) (try to find one with a 36-tooth blade)
- A hammer drill or impact driver (optional) (try to find one with a 24-tooth gear)
- A wire brush
- Finally An electric drill with an appropriate bit for drilling holes in aluminum (optional) (try to find one that has a variable speed control)
Dave Kindig is an experienced designer and engineer who has led the development of some of the world’s most successful car designs. He is currently President and CEO at Creative Associates, a design firm that specializes in motor vehicle design. Chrysler, and GMC, he was responsible for various engineering projects including new products such as the Saturn VUE and Buick Regal sports cars.

Did Justin leave Kindig-it Design?
Yes, he did. He has gone back to his hometown of Pittsburgh and is looking for a job at a local auto shop. I don’t know if he will be able to find one. I hope so, because he is a great fabricator and is not stupid (like his father).
No, it didn’t close. It is still open as of this writing in early October 2012. The owner has been working very hard to find a new part-time fabricator.
Finally owner is trying to sell the business, but it will probably take another couple of months before it sells.
