Andrey Rublev has had a mixed year so far. Despite being not able to reach at least the semi-finals in each of the 4 grand slams this year, He played some thrilling encounters this year. An epic 5-setter in Round 3 against Denis Shapovalov in the US Open 2022 was one of those where he was able to overcome the Canadian in a 5th set super tie-breaker playing for more than 4 hours.

His Serbia open-final win against Novak Djokovic was also a notable mention. He has won 3 ATP titles so far (Belgrade (Outdoor/Clay), Dubai (Outdoor/Hard), and Marseille (Indoor/Hard)). He stands at 43-16 this season. His straight-sets victory over the dangerous American World No.30 Tommy Paul in the second round here showed why he is a top-10 player of the world.

Dominic Thiem was constantly challenging the big 3 before the disaster happened in the form of a wrist injury during the Mallorca championships last year. He had to withdraw from 4 of the 6 grand slams post that. He came back for the clay season this year but was not able to make any marks.

The Grand slam tournaments he played this year ended in first-round losses in both the French Open and US open. Despite the poor run in grand slam matches, he was able to reach the finals of Rennes Challenger 2022 when he eventually lost in straight sets to French World No.106 Ugo Humbert.

Though he lost in 2nd round in the Metz open and Tel Aviv open after that, Thiem has been slowly raising from the coffin in this tournament, he bagelled Joao Sousa and Marcos Giron in the first two rounds followed by a straight sets victory over the Argentine world no. 29 Francisco Cerundolo.
