Having watched a lot of Lacrosse over the years, I’m always impressed by the talent of players who play for NCAA college programs. The best players are usually those who are not only skilled on the field but are also great people to be around. I’m always excited to see these players enter the spotlight.

Jessie Coffield

jessie coffield is currently working as a sports anchor for Draftkings, a leading company in fantasy sports contests. She also co-hosts “The Sweat” with Emerson Lotzia on YouTube. The show airs on regional sports networks during football season.

Coffield has appeared in two DraftKings Super Bowl commercials for the last two years. She has also worked on Super Bowl ads for Revs T.V. and CBT News. She will continue working for DraftKings, as she wants to keep talking about sports.

During her high school days, Jessie played Lacrosse and hockey. She was also the captain of the women’s lacrosse team. She graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Communication.

After graduation, Coffield was looking for a job in sports journalism. After a zillion coffees, she met a guy on the dating app Hinge. She sent him a reel of her work, and he offered her a job.

Brendan Nichtern

Having made the 2022 USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Second Team, Brendan Nichtern is now one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award, presented to the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. He is joined by Logan Wisnauskas (Maryland), Sam Handley (Penn), Connor Shellenberger (Virginia), and Chris Gray (North Carolina) as finalists.

The 6-foot, 185-pound senior from Massapequa, N.Y., was named one of the Top 25 candidates for the Tewaaraton Award on April 21. He leads active Division I players in points per game and assists. He is preparing for a second-half push to win the PLL title.

With 23 goals and 35 assists, he has already surpassed last year’s truncated point total. In addition, he is only one point behind Michigan’s Josh Zawada for the most points in a season.

Matt Brandau

Despite being one of the top college lacrosse players in the country, Matt Brandau was not a starter last year at Yale. He was one of three players on the team who did not take a fall semester off in 2022.

But he did get some time on the field this season and is expected to see increased playing time next year. After an injury last month, Brandau was back in action four days later.

Brandau led the Ivy League in points last season with 99. He was also named a First Team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine.

He’s one of the best finishers in the country, and he’s also an off-ball threat. He was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after scoring a double hat trick in the Bulldogs’ victory over Cornell.

Logan Wisnauskas

During his time in college, Logan Wisnauskas was one of the country’s top 5 college lacrosse players. He started his career at Syracuse but returned to Maryland to continue his career. Wisnauskas was one of the driving forces for the Terrapins’ perfect season during his time with Maryland. During the year, Wisnauskas became the first Maryland player to lead his team in goals, assists, and points. He was also one of the top 5 players in the country in each category.

He ended his career as the Terrapins’ all-time leader in goals, assists, and points. He led Maryland to its fourth national championship.

Wisnauskas was also named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. He finished the year with 61 goals and 42 assists. He broke the school’s single-season record of 290 points. He also finished second in goals per game (3.44).

Maryland

Throughout his five seasons at Maryland, Jared Bernhardt has played a vital role in the success of the Terrapins. Bernhardt led the Terps in goals with 202 and became Maryland’s all-time leader in points with 290. He was also awarded the Heisman Trophy as a freshman.

Last season, he led the Terps in goals with 46 and earned First-Team All-American honors. He was also a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, given to the nation’s best collegiate player. This year, he leads the Terps in goals with 52 and has added 38 assists.

Heisman Trophy winner Jared Bernhardt is one of the most accomplished players in the history of the Maryland men’s lacrosse program. His stellar play earned him the 2021 Tewaaraton Award as the best college lacrosse player in the country.
