Regardless of what kind of business you run, or what kind of industry you’re in, there are two things that you have to do: 1) create a plan and 2) stick to that plan as best you can. The reason most businesses fail (or don’t achieve their full potential) is because they lack effective planning and execution, but the truth is that these two things don’t have to be complicated or difficult at all. In fact, one of the real keys to having simple planning and business plans (as well as successful business in general) lies in this one simple word – consistency.
Define your business goals
It seems like every time you turn on the TV, there’s a new business coach telling you what you should be doing. But how do you know which one is right for your situation? And even if you find the perfect coach, what are they actually going to teach you? I’m a Small Business Coach who helps people increase their sales and grow their business.
Here are five tips that I think can help anyone get started on growing their own small business:
- Decide what kind of information your customers need before they buy from you.
- Know why they’re buying from you in the first place (hint – it’s not just because they want something).
Do your research
As a Small Business Coach, my goal is to help you increase sales by helping you create a plan that suits your company. I’ll start by assessing your current business situation, what’s working, what isn’t working and your goals for the future. Then I’ll work with you on setting clear goals for different areas of your business so that you can put together the best plan possible.
I have experience creating plans for many types of companies including restaurants, retail stores, e-commerce businesses, service providers and more.

Create a marketing plan
Start by listing all of your financials, including income, expenses, capital investments (if any), debt (if any) and net worth. You can make this as detailed as you want, but it is important to establish what you have in order for your business plan to move forward. Once you have your finances listed out, write a few sentences about each section so that the reader understands what it is and why it’s important.
Set up your financials
Every business needs financial planning in order to succeed. Whether you’re bootstrapping your company or raising capital from investors, there are many factors that will impact the future of your business. In this post, I’ll walk you through the three key areas of financial planning that every entrepreneur should consider when developing a business plan: cash flow, balance sheets, and income statements.
Write your executive summary
In this post, we will look at a few things you can do when launching your business. First, you need to have a strong marketing plan in place. Next, develop an effective social media strategy. Thirdly, hire out what you are not good at so that you can focus on what is important for your business. Fourthly, create an effective branding strategy for your business. And fifthly, be patient! It can take time for a startup company to get off the ground but eventually it will happen if you put in the hard work and effort.
