Radish crops are grown for use as raw vegetables. It is cultivated as a tuber vegetable. Radish is mainly consumed in its natural form. Consuming raw radish gets rid of stomach-related problems. It is primarily used for making salads. Radish crop is ready to give more yield in less time and less cost. Therefore it is more profitable farming for the farmers. Its crop can be obtained twice in the same season.

Soil, Climate & Temperature

Cultivation of radish requires sandy loam soil. Apart from this, the land should be well drained. P.H. of land between 6 to 7 in radish cultivation. There should be value. The cool climate is quite suitable for the cultivation of radishes. Its plants also easily tolerate frost falling in winter, which cannot grow well in summer. For its land preparation farmers used the Mahindra 575 tractor model. As it comes at a nominal price range.

Its seeds require a 20-degree temperature for germination and a 10 to 15-degree temperature at the time of plant development. Radish plants can tolerate a minimum temperature of 4 degrees and a maximum of 25 degrees. Higher than this temperature, the quality of the fruit decreases.

Field Preparation

In radish cultivation, the field should be prepared before sowing the seeds. For this, first, the area should be deeply ploughed with the soil-reversing halo, due to which the remnants of the old crop are destroyed. After this, 15 carts of old cow dung manure must be given per hectare as a natural fertiliser. Then applying manure, two to three slant ploughing is done through the cultivator, and the waste is mixed well in the soil. After this, use water in the field and make it alive. When the area’s ground starts appearing dry from above, then to make the soil friable, get the lot ploughed by a rotavator.

After this, the field is levelled by putting a pad in the area, due to no problem like water logging. Its seeds are planted on the ridge, so the hills are prepared after the field is levelled, keeping a distance of one to one and a half feet. To give chemical fertiliser to the radish field, after the last ploughing of the area, give 50 kg super phosphate, 100 kg potash and 100 kg nitrogen per hectare. Apart from this, 20 to 25 kg of urea should be given to the roots of the plants one month after planting the seeds.

Sowing Method

Radish seeds can be planted in both flat and weed land. The drilling method is used for transplanting on flat ground, and at the time of sowing seeds, a distance of 5 cm is kept between each source. Apart from this, if the radish seeds are planted by hand on the ridge, then a distance of 5 cm must be maintained between each seed. Apart from this, some farmers also plant seeds by spraying methods.

In the spraying method, the seeds of radish are sprinkled in the flat field, after which two to three light ploughing is done by putting a cultivator in the area and tying a soft pad at the back. Due to this, the seed gets buried to a depth of 3 to 5 cm. Generally, its cultivation can be done throughout the year, but cultivating it in the winter season can get good yields.

Irrigation

Radish seeds are planted in moist soil. Therefore, the first irrigation is given immediately after transplanting the plant. After that, its plants require regular irrigation. If its roots have been planted in a dry land, then during that time, light irrigation is needed till the seeds germinate. Irrigation of radish plants is done two to three times in the summer season, and the same irrigation should be done only when needed in the rainy season. For better irrigation purposes farmers used equipment that’s why Mahindra 585 tractor model is best to handle every equipment.

Weed Control

Both chemical and natural methods are used for weed control in the radish field. In radish plants, weeding is naturally done for weed control, its plants need only two hoeings, in which the first hoeing is done after 20 days, and the second hoeing is done after 15 days. is | Apart from this, if you want to control weeds by chemical method. For that, you must spray the appropriate amount of Pendimethalin after planting the seeds in the field.

Harvesting

Radish plants are ready to produce two months after sowing the seeds. However, its small roots can be excavated even in a month. During this, considering the size of the radish, you can dig it. After exploring the radish, they should be cleaned thoroughly and sent to sell in the market.
