Surprise! Four Mercury Retrogrades In 2022!
Suffering from a bad temper tantrum? There is an explanation in the stars: its name is Mercury Retrograde, and this cosmic event is coming to us four (4) times in 2022.
In the upper part of it, Venus is still retreating during this time, as it has been since Sunday, December 19. Venus rules love, beauty, and abundance. While the romance planet is retreating, this relationship can be difficult to navigate. Even with Mercury retreating for most of this period, this is not the best time to deal with important relationship discussions. What is Mercury Retrograde?
“Three or four times a year,” says Annabelle Gate, a senior astrologer at Voice and author of The Moon Sign Guide and The Astrology of Love and Sex. Mercury is not really moving backward in space, only in the ephemerides of the astrologers. The term “retreat” refers to the appearance of a planet in the sky.
When will Mercury retrograde in 2022?
According to The Old Farmers Almanac, Mercury retreated three times in 2021, the same period as the expected retrograde in 2022. In 2022, Mercury will retreat during these four periods, according to the Astrology Zone:
- January 14 – February 3
- May 10 – June 2
- September 9 – October 2
- December 29 – January 18, 2023
Every 2022 Mercury retreat will be indifferent astrological signs – that is, these are the signs that Mercury will go through in its retreating period. The first Mercury retrograde of 2022 will be in the air sign Kobe and the ground sign will end in Capricorn. The second Mercury retrograde wind sign will start with Gemini and end with the ground sign Taurus. The third wind sign starts from Libra and ends on the ground sign Virgo. And the last Mercury retrograde of 2022 (which will continue until 2023) will be completely in Capricorn. According to astrologers, depending on what sign it is going through, Mercury’s retreat can affect people of different zodiac signs in different ways.
