How to watch Australian MotoGP in 2022: Live streams, start times & more

MotoGP heads down under this weekend for the Australian Grand Prix. at 4am on BT Sport 2, while those on the US West Coast can watch at 8pm, and those on the East Coast at 11pm (both Saturday night, note).

The following weekend sees teams jet off to Malaysia for the next race on 23 October.

Of course, you want to know how you can watch the races, so here’s everything you need to know about the action this weekend as well as the full 2022 calendar, plus your options for streaming as well as watching on TV.

When is the Australian MotoGP race start time?

  • Sunday 16 October at 3pm local time (that’s 4am BST – live on BT Sport 2)

Free practice is televised on Friday and Saturday, followed by Qualifying. Here’s the schedule for the weekend (times in BST)

  • Friday 14 October Free practice 2: 4.10-4.55am, Free practice 3: 11:55pm-12:40am (Sat)
  • Saturday 15 October Free practice 4: 3.30-4am, Qualifying: 4.10-4.50am
  • Sunday 16 October Warmup: 11.40pm(Sat)-12am; Race start – 4am

Is MotoGP shown on free-to-air TV?

In some countries it is, such as Australia, but in most places you’ll need to have the right paid-for TV package.

In the UK, for example, BT Sport has exclusive rights to live coverage until 2024.
