Hairstyles to Follow For 4C Hair Style Inspiration

Read Time:2 Minute, 51 Second

4C hair often receives a bad rap in the natural hair community. But most fail to realize that it can be the most beautiful due to its versatility and the many ways it can be done in another way. On a few occasions, I’ve stressed how important it is for women to follow and be inspired by their fellow sisters with their hair texture. And while I do not encourage women to live my “alphabet soup game” 4A, 4B, and 4C but rather strongly encourage them to follow other women who wear their hair naturally.

Few 4c Natural Hair Influencers

Few 4c Natural Hair Influencers

Here are a few long 4c natural hair styles influencers you should be following to need more inspiration: 1. Nicole Miller – She has been able to embrace her texture with ease (despite having some bad experiences early on). 2. Lily Adams – Her story reminds us that not everyone’s journey will be easy or perfect, but there’s always hope and possibilities ahead. 3. Keisha Gray – Keisha has embraced her texture by embracing products made specifically for African American women with similar challenges as herself. 4. Valentina – She has developed a passion for. Recently, after months of advising on ways to grow and care for her natural hair, I had a conversation with a woman. Expectations are everything.

Twist-outs

Twist-outs are a great way to add length and definition to your 4c natural hair type curl. They also help to moisturize, fight frizz, and increase curl definition. To get the look:

  • Begin by wetting hair and applying a leave-in conditioner.
  • Apply a light amount of mousse on dry hair and scrunch any excess with your fingers.
  • Once the hair is dry, begin twisting the ends up tight and secure with clips or bobby pins.
  • Add some serum throughout the twists to keep them moisturized and healthy!

Braid-outs

Braid-outs are like the twist-outs hip, fun cousin. They give you more texture and definition if you want to add more texture and definition to your hair. Section your hair in 4-8 sections. Apply hair under their braiding to each section, then braid or plait the hair as far as possible. This oil-based product is a great leave-in conditioner to prevent unraveling. Use your fingers and comb to curl and tighten up those wispy ends. Afro threading is a great alternative to blow-drying or flat ironing, and it’s becoming widely popular among natural hair girls. The thread is applied below the scalp and wrapped around a hair section. When removed, hair appears straightened with fewer curls, depending on your hair texture. Threading is a hair care technique that can also be worn as a protective style.

Bunning and Banding

Bunning and Banding curly hair

Bunning and Banding are both techniques used to straighten curly hair. Instead of wrapping up the curly hair, use cloth hair that ties to secure the hair sections. Pulling gently from the scalp, add several bands down the sectioned 4c curly hair at various lengths. If you want straight or curly hair with less texture, try bunning or Banding as a protective style using colorful bands to add fun. You can apply this method with braids or twist-outs if you want more elongation from your curls.
