Videogames is a very solid industry that in 2019 grew by 3% reaching 120.1 billion dollars (according to the estimates of SuperData analysts ) , thanks to a further boost in the mobile segment that continues to act as a tow (64.4 billion in receipts last year).
But which are the richest video games? This question is answered by an analysis prepared by MusicMagPie, a British online retailer of second-hand video games, which has published a list of games capable of generating the most revenue during 2019 .
In reality that of MusicMagPie is not a simple ranking but something more complex, articulated and dynamic. In fact, the seller, combining the reports released by publishers during the last year and those published by SuperData, has made an estimate of the earnings of the software houses every minute . Income that is generated, in addition to the sale of videogames, from subscriptions for the premium versions and, above all, from in-game purchases.
Curious to see that at the top of the top ten, which takes into account both the proceeds from the sale of the game and the microtransactions, there is a downloadable and playable video game for free , namely, Fortnite: Battle Royale, which recorded revenues of 3,151 euros per minute. The title of Epic Games, however, has built its fortune with a brilliant mechanism of purchases in the app.
Scrolling through the ranking it can then be seen that also in second and third place there are two free games such as Dungeon Fighter Online (2800 euros) and League of Legends (2625 euros), which also generate revenues exclusively with micro-transactions in -game.
Here’s how much the 10 most popular video games earn every minute:
1. Fortnite: Battle Royale – 3,151 euros.
2. Dungeon Fighter Online – € 2,800.
3. League of Legends – 2,625 euros.
4. Crossfire – 2,450 euros.
5. Anthem – € 2,100.
6. Fifa 19 – 1,375 euros.
7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 – 1,128 euros.
8. Overwatch – € 1,043.
9. Grand Theft Auto V – € 1,041.
10. Apex Legends – 929 euros.
