This journey to the stunning lake of Brahmatal, which rises to a height of 12,250 feet in the Chamoli area of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand, is a suitable one for novice hikers. Wherever you walk in Uttarakhand, you will undoubtedly hear tales of Gods and Goddesses. Brahmatal Trek is the truth that our Uttarakhand Dev Bhumi is claimed to be the reason that Gods have performed harsh penance here.

This walk, which lasts around 5 nights and 6 days, begins at Kathgodam. The elevation gain on this trek is approximately 4,678 feet over the course of 2 to 3 days as we travel from Lohajung to Brahmatal. In addition to Brahmatal, the trek’s main attraction is Bekaltal, so we encourage you to explore these two pristine glacial lakes and enjoy camping next to Bekaltal’s frozen shores. Your eyes will be treated to a feast by the beauty of these two.

The wonderful thing about this journey is that it will reward you with an unrivalled view of the Himalayas. You’ll go through an evergreen forest with rounded oak and rhododendron trees, as well as a few small waterfalls that are constantly spouting water.

One of the most beautiful treks in India‘s Uttarakhand state’s Garhwal region is the Brahmatal Trek. For those who enjoy the outdoors and adventure, this journey is a great way to get started in the Himalayas. This trip is one of the most popular in India due to its beautiful grandeur, particularly the views of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti from the summit. From the second day of this trek on, you will always be able to see these two peaks, which have elevations of over 7000 metres.

After the Kedarkantha walk, the Brahmatal Trek is generally recognised as the most well-known winter trek in India. As you ascend the narrow paths, you will pass through expansive alpine woods of fir, oak, and rhododendrons, reaching an altitude of 12,100 feet on the summit day. Up top, where you can get a bird’s eye perspective of everything around you, the trek travels a distance of 22 kilometres.

Why is the Brahmatal winter trek the best?

You can have a wonderful wintertime snow adventure on the Brahmatal Trek. You travel through woodlands on snow-covered trails the first day until you arrive at the frozen Bekaltal lake.

Winter camping beside the Bekaltal will make your heart happy. The huge expanse of snowfields can be seen as you travel to the frozen Brahmatal lake on the second day as you ascend above the snowline. Finally, on summit day, you are treated to stunning scenery and breathtaking vistas of Uttarakhand’s snow-capped Himalayan mountain ranges.

As a result of the spectacular winter snowfall, Bramatal is now the ideal winter journey to take in December, January, and February.

The Brahmatal Trek begins where?

Lohajung, a small village in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district that is located about 8,000 feet above sea level, is where the Brahamtal Trek begins. Base camps for the Roopkund Trek and the Bedni Bugyal Trek can be found in Lohajung.

Lohajung has a rich mythological history since locals think that this is where the goddess Parvati faced off against the demon Lohasur and triumphed. After the battle with the Asur (Demon) Loha, a village was established here and was given the name Lohajung. Another urban legend holds that the name of the location came from the torrential rains that occur there. All metallic items, or Loha, rust as a result of the constant rain, or Jung.

How do I get from Dehradun to Lohajung?

By bus or jeep, you can go from Dehradun to Lohajung and then on to Karnaprayag through Rishikesh. You can take a vehicle from Karnaprayag to Tharali, Debal, and then Lohajung.

It takes around 12 hours to go by car, including stops, from Dehradun to Lohajung, a distance of 298 kilometres.
