Dietitians and nutritionists correct the eating habits of patients and help them lead a healthy life. They are employed to help people plan meals based on age, work and lifestyle. If patients have a special condition like diabetes or heart disease, the diet is customized for them. They frequently monitor their patients and implement impact on diet plans.

A dietitian is often confused with a nutritionist. A nutritionist only studies the effects of storage, heat, and other physicochemical factors on food. They also examine the effects of food on humans. They usually work to prevent complications in patients and help them recover.

The studies of nutrition and dietetics are interrelated and complementary to each other. This is one of the growing possibilities in today’s world. These practitioners find jobs in hospitals, clinics, star hotels, labs, canteens, recreational centers etc. In addition, they are employed by private agencies for consultancy. There are many opportunities in media and print for columns and programs.

A dietitian should be sociable and easy to like. They should be good at communication and have enough patience to convince children and adults to follow the diet plans. In cases of critically ill and elderly persons, they have to monitor the situation closely and be prepared for emergencies. A mistake can be made in such a way.

There are four types of nutritionists and nutritionists.

Clinical Dietitians

They work in hospitals and clinics and help make meal plans for the sick. They meet with doctors to develop specific nutritional and calorie restrictions to avoid further complications and best support the patient’s recovery.

Community Dietitians

They work in public health centers such as clinics, home health agencies, and health care organizations. They create diet plans to prevent disorders and promote general health.
