How much does a cook (m/f/d) earn in training?

As a chef, you can expect the following training allowances on average: 

in the 1st year of training: €772

in the 2nd year of training: €878

in the 3rd year of training: €998

Your training allowance depends on whether your company is bound by a collective agreement, in which region of Germany you work and in which industry you are employed. In a company that is bound by a collective bargaining agreement, your training salary as a chef is fixed by the collective bargaining agreement. However, there are different collective agreements depending on the industry and federal state.

What does a cook earn in practice?

In the 1st year of the apprenticeship 750 euros,

The amount of your salary as a chef depends on your professional experience, place of work, and industry. Many companies are bound by collective agreements. As a trained chef in the hotel and catering industry, you can expect a starting salary of 1,800 to 2,300 euros.

How much does a public service cook earn?

After training, you can expect a starting salary of 2,200 to 2,800 euros as a cook in the public sector. These are possible merits for female chefs in some fields. But there are many other sectors and collective bargaining regulations. This means that your earnings as a chef can be lower or higher depending on the state, industry, and collective agreement. Depending on your qualifications, you can also be assigned to other salary groups. And with increasing professional experience, your chef’s salary increases.
