Car wash exterior – how to wash a car: How to start

Stand in the shade and start degreasing the car.

Apply the degreaser from the bottom up. Let this stand and work a little, but do not let it dry.

Degrease also in wheel arches. Here, for example, Prickbort is recommended as it dissolves asphalt and salt from the winter. You do not have to degrease the car every time you wash it, only when you see that it is needed.

Use a high-pressure washer, but do not hold the nozzle too close to the paint. Flush from the bottom up, then from top to bottom. If you have a lot of brake dust, a good rim border is recommended together with a rim brush, be careful that you choose a rim border that is acid-free, and follow the instructions for use.

Take a hand wash with a good car shampoo and a microfiber washcloth or sponge. Use lots of water!

Then rinse carefully so that you get rid of all the soap. Wipe the car with a microfiber wipe or a cleaning cloth before applying rubber renewers to the tires.

How to wash windshield and side windows:

During the Bilvask, many people often use agents that are not suitable for glass, which often results in stains due to soap residues, among other things. To get glass completely clean and shield-free, a glass cleaner that does not contain much soap is recommended.

It is also important that you dry the glass completely dry so that there is nothing left on the glass that can become stains. Microfiber cloths for glass or lint-free paper are recommended for this job. Do you notice rubble that you have not noticed before during the cleaning? Here you can see why you should not wait to get rubble fixed.

What about Zalo and other household soaps?

There are many who still use Zalo and other household products for car washing, but this goes far beyond the protection you have on the car, such as wax. The agents will make the paint dry and ultimately unprotected.

Feel free to polish the car every spring and autumn to protect the paint against, among other things, UV and salt. When it comes to choosing car maintenance tools, there is a sea of funds out there, and it can often be difficult to know what to wear. Most places that sell car supplies have what you need, for example Autoglym and Meguiars are two brands that have product lines that cover all needs.

 Car vacuuming:

Remove mats and other loose items in the car before you start.

Before you start dusting, you can loosen dust and dirt from air ducts and other nooks and crannies with a suitable brush for the interior. A q-tip or a damp microfiber cloth can be good tools. Start by vacuuming seats and door pockets before loosening the carpet.

Interior car wash:

For interior car washes, you can use interior shampoo intended for cars together with a microfiber cloth. Follow the instructions on the bottle for mixing ratios and procedures. You can also use a universal foam spray and a microfiber cloth.

When washing screens, use means specified for cleaning screens. NOTE! Do not spray anything directly on screens as some of these have a coating that can be damaged. Also make sure that you do not dry with a dry cloth as there may be scratches, the same applies to the instrument panel.

Do not wipe with a dry cloth as it may scratch. Instead, use means specified for cleaning screens.

If you are going to wash leather seats, you should also only use means intended for leather or a universal foam spray if you are only going to wash. If the interior is made of textile, it is often only cleaning with a cleaning machine that is sufficient.
